Mellor Cricket Club was founded circa 1909. We played for many years in the High Peak league followed by the Glossop & District league, before transferring to the Cheshire leagues in 2008. The club has experienced success in all the above mentioned structures. In 2012, we joined the Cheshire Cricket Alliance and after finishing runners up on a number of occasions, managed to win the Division C North/East title in 2022. We currently run 1 Senior men’s team on a Saturday afternoon, although with the recent successful expansion of our junior section, we’re looking to add to this from 2023 onwards. Cricket training for Seniors takes place on a Thursday evening during the summer at Mellor Sports Club – we have net facilities and a well maintained cricket square and ground. Mellor juniors was re-established in 2017, initially with only one U9s team, consisting of ten players managed by enthusiastic parents! Since then it has gone from strength to strength and we now have teams competing at U9s, U11s, U13s and U15s levels in the Cheshire County and High Peak leagues, with around 60 children participating.  A number of our older juniors have also gone on to play for our senior team. Training is on a Friday during the summer months, with games played midweek and on Sundays.  We have level 1 and 2 qualified Cheshire coaches which take the outdoor sessions, along with winter nets which begin every January. We’re a friendly club whose aim it is to get juniors enjoying and playing cricket, whatever their standard.   Whilst maintaining this ethos we were delighted to win the U12s John North Cup in 2022, our first junior trophy, and have also had numerous players selected for Cheshire District teams and the full Cheshire team itself.
