We are a long lasting and friendly club who have been playing badminton here in Mellor since the 1950's. We are very proud of our current hall which is one of the best in the area and was built specifically for badminton. This has the following benefits: a sprung wooden floor and so is easy on the joints, lighting from the walls so no distractions when playing overhead shots, single coloured end walls so you don't lose sight of the shuttle, floor markings just for badminton, silence and privacy and no distractions from other players or activities.  We also have use of the amenities of the sports club: toilets, changing rooms, shower, generous car parking, clubhouse and bar. We play both social and competitive badminton and have a thriving Junior section organised by our Badminton England accredited coach. Competitive badminton is played in both the Stockport and Tameside Badminton Leagues, in which we have three and two teams respectively. The league fixtures cover a range of abilities and run from September to April. Organised activities are scheduled for the following times: Monday evening - Senior Club night. Tuesday evening - Tameside League matches. Wednesday evening - Junior\Student coaching and Senior Club night. Thursday evening - Junior\Student coaching and Stockport League matches. We also have daytime activities for Beginners and Improvers and for Over 50's Outside of these times the hall can be reserved, via an online booking system, for private play between 9am and 10:30pm Membership fees are for the year and visitor fees are available so long as accompanied by a member.
